FAQs

Pepper is the most used spice in the world and the least questioned. Good thing we've got some answers.

Are black, white and green pepper really the same plant?

Yes. All three are the fruit of Piper nigrum. Green is picked young, black is picked green and sun-dried, white is picked ripe and skinned down to the seed.

Why does fresh pepper taste so different?

Pepper loses its aromatic oils fast once it is ground or left sitting. Ours is sealed at the source and shipped whole, so the flavour is still in the peppercorn when you open it.

How long does a 2 oz tin last?

For most kitchens, a couple of months per tin. Keep it sealed and away from the stove and it stays fresh.

Does this make a good gift?

It sure does, especially for the seasoned cook who has their own mills. If they don't or you're unsure, you might want to consider The Discovery Set.
